Hidden Transcripts, 2014, Performative Installation
In Hidden Transcripts, the autobiographical, fictional, and documentary came together in a performative installation.
The setting was a colorful one containing glitter, feathers and confetti. There was music and the public was invited to also wear Carnival masks. In the space there were several video projections containing artistic as well as archive material from, among others, footage relating to Caribbean protest actions in The Hague in 1969, the year that an act of revolution took place in Curacao. During the event everything that happened in the exhibition space was being filmed as a kind of ‘live set’, turning those present into actors and becoming the basis from which a later video work would be created.
